Wow! what a great informative web site. I'm the loving son of Mike Quiroz, past resident of Gleeson. My dads entire family was from Gleeson and it's such a treat to see pictures of him from grade school on this web site. Thank you for preserving history.
Sincerely,
Patrick Quiroz

Hi Tina, John, and Glenn,
Never dawned on me to sign your guestbook. I'm always on your website so I thought I might as well. For those of you who are reading this, my great-grandfather was John Kelly. He lived in Gleeson, with his wife Annie, and children John Thomas, Elizabeth, Gertrude and Anna from 1900-1902.
I'm sorry I won't be able to be there for the 100th anniversary, but I will see you all soon. Have fun and take lots of pictures for me!
Hugs to you all!

This is a wonderful website. I recently accidentally found out about Gleeson, AZ and John Gleeson in particular. I saw somewhere that he was Gleeson from Moher, Upperchurch, Co. Tipperary, Ireland. There are many Gleesons in the area. My mother's family are Gleesons from there. Can anyone confirm the place of orign? Thanks much.

Wow! The place looks wonderful. You did a great job on the restoration. I cannot wait to see it up close again. When we were there in 2005 we stopped and looked at the old jail and hospital site. It is so exciting to know you own a peice of history. The website looks great. I love the newspaper articles and the pictures. You must be so proud, but of course everything you do is 125%.

John and Nellie Gleeson were my Great Grandparents...I never met them, but heard many stories of them from my mother Beth Brooks (Pidgeon) who spent many Summers in Gleeson as a child. I am delighted about the renewed interest in Gleeson.....when I was last there many years ago, there was virtually nothing to be seen!

My wife's grandmother, Mary Gleeson Purcell, is the sister of John Gleeson, for whom the town of Gleeson is named. John's two sisters, Nora and Mary and brother Edmund settled and married in Syracuse NY. John, his wife, Elizabeth Cummings of Syracuse, and son Edwin are buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Lowell, AZ. We would like information about John's parentage in Thurles, Ireland.

Thanks for the website. I am the granddaugher of the Joe and Rafaela Bono, owners of the Joe Bono Mercantile and Bar. My parents Robert and Lena Anaya grew up in Gleason and I lived there (in the old Bono building) until the age of 5 when we moved to Douglas. Seeing your website has brought back many memories of family and friends from Gleason. Our family currently lives in and around Cochise County, we strive often to visit our roots in Gleeson. The jail you have restored was once the neighboring building to my Nana Rios' home. I remember the house well and playing in the jail before the window bars were taken down. I look forward to visiting the restored jail and seeing the old town again. Thanks for all the hard work you have done.

Sorry I could not make it down for the Grand Opening. I really enjoyed visiting with Glenn Snow at my home in Tempe and showed him the original lock for the front door of the jail which I treasure as it was a gift from my father, Gail Price, who was born at Light, AZ (about half way between Pearce and the Chiricahua Mountains where his dad (Ike Price) and his mother (Mary "Grandma" Price homesteaded along Turkey Creek. Luther Price, the hombre in the historical sketch "A Price on His Head" was my grandfather's older brother and was guest at the Gleeson Jail until they discovered he had smallpox so they had to isolate him. My grandfather's home and my folk's home was built from gypsum block they bought from what was originally the Gleeson Hospital. At the time they were removing the blocks to transport to the Price Ranch is when my dad found the old Yale lock that originally locked the jail house front door! I have had a chance to visit the jail since restoration took place and those of you taking on the task did one "helluva" job! You are to be commended. Hopefully someone will do the same to the old Courtland jail which is very similar to the Gleeson jail. Great job fella's!
